AUTO INSURANCE DEALS AND DISCOUNTS
Hi Folks, my name is Manish shah, I am an auto
insurance broker in the state of Maharashtra. I operate two auto insurance
agencies in Mumbai and an auto insurance website serving all Indian states.
I have many years of experience as an auto insurance agent and broker
and through the years, I have figured out all ways to save money on your
auto insurance.
I now wish to share my expertise on how money can be saved on auto insurance
as I feel that people have been deprived of attaining the discounts available
to them just because of a lack of awareness.
The decision to create this awareness and help people
save money on car insurance has brought me anxiety for giving out all
my secrets. However Insurance companies have earned sufficiently and I
feel it's time to even things out a little. According to me, some of the
most prosperous genres of companies in the world are insurance firms.
The primary reason for that being the costly premiums you pay for auto
insurance.
Now I present to you my secrets, which you are encouraged to take note
of, so that in the future whilst looking g at an auto insurance quote,
you may be able to use some of this new found knowledge and avail of your
much deserved discounts.
Primarily most companies will request for basic information for the purpose
of obtaining your auto insurance quote. Details like; name, gender, date
of birth, marital status, zip code, whether you have current or prior
auto insurance, how long have you been licensed (driving experience),
driving record history (tickets and accidents), commute distance to work
and annual mileage, occupation and type of use (personal or commercial),
make and model of vehicle, alarms and equipment on vehicle, and coverage
desired.
People usually furnish the companies with all the required information,
without ever making any inquiries themselves and are clueless on why they
have been asked for such information. Most people have no inclination
to the find the relevance of why the information is required at all. The
reason for the question is that the rate of the premium is decided through
it. I intend to clarify how these questions affect the rate and how to
obtain the best rate.
I will basically share knowledge on how to acquire the optimum rate, without
having to give any fake data when asking for a quote. It is equally essential
to give truthful answers but at the same time, it is important to know
what answers will give you the best rates because if you don't currently
fall into the "low rate" categories, you might in the future
and since you know, you will want to contact your insurance company to
inform them of any changes that will help you save money.
I am going to give a step by step explanation each for every question
asked by insurance companies and I will tell you what answers give lowest
rates.
- SEX- Females tend to receive lower rates from insurance firms,
as it has been propounded that fewer accidents have resulted from females
than males. It might be due to the fact that generally, if a couple
is in a vehicle, the male will drive. It could also be because a housewife
will not have the normal travel a husband would have driving from and
to work every day.
- Birthday- Approximately, the early ages will cause a higher
cost for insurance. Rates will decrease as a driver matures; however,
rates increase again as a driver reaches the later years such as 60's
and up.
- Marital Status- It has been made noteworthy through statistics,
that a married driver will have a cheaper rate than a single driver.
And this was done so for the reason that single drivers have a greater
loss percentage. A reason for this could be that married couples have
driven less than a single, more active driver. A few insurance companies
permit you to receive the married rate if you live with your "significant
other" under common law marriage or they may give you the married
rate if you are a single parent. It's always good to go over which categories
are suited for you and which one you can be a part of. Also keep the
firm updated with your information, like marriage for a "married
rate".
- City and Zip Code- As per a statistical study of a particular
city, the zip codes do affect insurance and premium rates. As there
are cities which may be crowded with traffic and may have more accidents
than others. Simply put, the more a city is overcrowded, the more the
rates are.
- Current or Past Insurance- there are insurance companies that
give discounts incase you have current insurance or have had an insurance
policy which got terminated in the past 30 days. If it is the latter
be sure to inform your insurance agent as most agents will not ask you
unless you tell them.
- Driving Experience- the time period and the experience you
have as a licensed driver plays a vital role in setting the rate. More
the experience and length of time you've had your license, the cheaper
your rate. If you possessed a license in another state, surely include
that in your driving experience. The same applies if even if you were
licensed in another country, it is used to add to your driving experience,
certain proof is essential.
- Penalty and Accidents- Of course tickets and accidents affect
your rate; however, tickets will not unless the violation is published
on your driving record. This is not done till after having gone to traffic
court or paying for your violation. If you already possess the insurance
policy before going to court or paying the violation, the premium rate
is not altered until after renewing the policy. (Habitually one year).
As for accidents, there are three ways for rating an accident: At fault
with injury, at fault with no injury, and not at fault. All of them
will be charged different rates going from highest to cheapest respectively.
- Commute distance to work and annual mileage- The greater the
distance one covers while driving to work, the more expensive the auto
insurance may be. For those who use facilities like a carpool or use
other methods of traveling to work, by a work vehicle or taking a bus,
should surely inform the agent as this will help lower your rates.
- Occupation and vehicle use- Occupation is another factor that
will affect the rate. Insurance Companies refuse to accept certain occupations
for coverage, one such occupation is pizza delivery. This is primarily
because the time limits on pizza delivery men also put them in the category
of high risk occupations, which insurance firms see as threats and tend
to refuse coverage. In certain cases the insurance firms sort the purpose
of the vehicles as "commercial" or "artesian" and
accept to offer coverage under a high premium. An example of such a
case is that of a real estate agent, who is on the move, driving around
as part of work as compared to a construction machine operator, who,
is not as mobile, and is less likely to be in an accident. The artesian
use of an automobile is that of an electrician who uses the company
vehicle to go from one client to another, and is also more likely to
meet with a mishap in such circumstances. Those coming under the mentioned
grouping, and drive company vehicles are not liable to extra costs occurring
from those categories. A positive of this is that benefits are given
to those drivers who have obtained a college degree, or possess a certain
grade of merit to receive a good student reduction.
- Make and Model of Vehicle- Several vehicles are usually costly
to cover, cars like the Ford Mustang is such an example. Even if it
is not as expensive to buy, it is expensive to insure as it falls in
the "sports" car group. Thus it is sensible to research on
the cost of the insurance of a vehicle prior to buying it, as I have
known people who have had to return their vehicles because it turned
out to be too expensive to maintain and insure after purchasing the
vehicle. It is also known that, four door vehicles are relatively cheaper
to insure than two door vehicles. Generally 4wd vehicles are higher
to insure as compared to 2wd vehicles. It is but obvious that high priced
bran names like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Jaguar are definitely more
expensive to insure than the other run of the mill cars. Thus it is
essential to know what the insurance will cost before purchasing any
vehicle.
- Burglar Alarms and Equipment- there are insurance firms that
might give concessions for vehicles that have a low jack or alarm system
installed. Incase your vehicle is such, then it is essential to bring
it to the notice of the agent. There are companies who will cut rates
for vehicles which have airbags and other safety features as well.
- Other- Apart from all the discounts mentioned there are others
that can be used to the optimum benefit. If you own more than one vehicle,
they should be insured under one policy so as to get a "multi-car"
discount which starts from 15% onwards. If you are a home owner, then
avail of the "home owner" discounts offered by some companies.
Taking a driver's safety course can also bring further reductions under
certain insurance packages. Also mention if the vehicle is parked in
a locked garage during the night, as it may enable you for a reduction.
